What the Earth Zoom effect actually does.
The move is a single unbroken dolly-out. The model has to invent every scale between your photograph and the view from orbit: the rest of the street, the rooftops, the coastline, the cloud layer. None of that is in your source image, so the effect is really a generative extrapolation dressed as a camera move.
That has a direct consequence for what you feed it. A photo with a clear ground plane and a visible horizon gives the extrapolation a direction to grow in. A photo shot indoors, or straight at a face, gives it nothing — the first thing the camera has to invent is the room's exterior, and it usually invents something that has no relationship to the shot you started from.

Indoor photos are the most reliable failure. The move has to escape a room it cannot see the outside of, and what it invents rarely matches.
Close-up portraits have no world to zoom away from. The face fills the frame, so the first second of the move is spent inventing a body and a ground that were never there.
Night photos lose the middle of the journey. City lights read at street level and from orbit, but the intermediate altitudes come back as an indistinct dark smear.
